Large format printing to prevent static electricity

Electrostatic charge is the relatively static and negative charge that is generated on the surface of an object caused by friction between different objects. For any electronic product, static electricity is a natural enemy. Large format printers, as a precision mechanical device, are particularly vulnerable to static electricity. The generation of static electricity will not only affect the print quality, cause damage to the printer, but also have a certain impact on human health. Therefore, preventing and eliminating static electricity is a necessary task for large-format printer users.

How is static electricity generated during the application of large format printers? From a macroscopic point of view, static electricity is generated by the contact, friction and separation between objects, and the air drying in the work shop. As far as the printing environment is concerned, under the same conditions, the lower the humidity, the drier the air, and the higher the electrostatic voltage, the more it will affect the normal operation of the printer. Experiments show that when the relative humidity of the equipment room is 30%, the static voltage is 5000V; when the relative humidity drops to 5%, the static voltage will reach 20000V. In terms of large format printers, in addition to environmental factors, the part of the machine where the center shaft is in contact with the paper is the area where static electricity is most likely to occur. In particular, paper that has not been treated with static electricity, such as some plastic substrates that are relatively inexpensive on the market Pp photo paper, because the non-conductive plastic is strong, it is more likely to generate static electricity, and will continue to rub with
