Must See PageMaker Practical Tips

Easy selection of correct images from photpCD

When placing a photoCD image in PageMaker, the file name of the image seems to be somewhat unclear, usually reading a code such as IMG001.PCD, or worse, finding that many images have the same name and no distinction. If there is no sketch of an image in hand, it is very difficult to figure out which one is which image. However, don't worry, there is an Overview.PCD file in each guide on the PhotoCD that allows you to easily preview all the images before placing them. When you open this file, the preview box will present a thumbnail of six images at a time. You can use the buttons above to select to continue or play back the preview item. When you have decided on the desired image, click on this thumbnail and it will appear in the PageMakerPhotoCDimportFilter dialog box.

Choose the correct PhotoCD description

The Source description in the KodakPhotoCDimportFilter dialog controls the transition from the PhotoYCC (color space) of the PhotoCD itself to the CIELAB space where the PageMaker stores the input image.

In this dialog box, KodakPhotoCD is always listed in the Source column, but if you press the Source button on the right, you will find that there are actually 3 choices: ColorNegativeV3.0, Uni-versalEktachromeV2.0, and KodachromeVw2.0. How to determine which one is correct?

Click the ImageInfo button in the import filter dialog box. The first line in the dialog box that appears indicates the origin of the vector (Medium of Original). If ColorNegative appears, close the dialog box and select ColorNegative V3.0 as the image in the KodakPhotoCDimportFilter box. Source description. If ColorReversal word appears, skip to Prod-uctTypeofOriginal in the downlink; if the first 3 codes are 052, select UniversalEktachrome as the source description; if it is other numbers, select UniversalKodachrome. Today, Kodachrome's format is rarely used to scan images, but it happens by chance.

Maintain the stability of the set CMYK color

If you can fully understand the built-in color management system of PageMaker, it is very helpful to grasp the color of printing. But there are many times when we set the CMYK value, we hope that the colors appearing on the color separation film will not be disturbed by the color management system. Therefore, when setting CMYK colors, any CMS Profile specified by the WorkshopsPrinter can be selected in the CMSSetupPreferences. In this way, the set CMYK value appears on the output sheet at the time of printing. If you change the description of the WorkshopsPrinter, be sure to change the color settings.

Change SpotColor to HIFI Color in PageMaker

SpotClolr in the EPS file can be reset to HiFi color in PageMaker, although many drawing software still cannot support six-color settings. It does this by first setting the HiFi color in PageMaker and then placing it in the EPS file. At this point, the SpotColor in the EPS file will be automatically transferred to PageMaker's palette.

In the Set Colors dialog box, edit all special colors to be converted to HiFi color by first converting the color version to Tint, and then changing the base color to the color to be converted.
Implementing a color copy of the PageMaker mid-span publication

By pressing the Copy button in the Define Colors dialog box in PageMaker, you can copy all the colors from one palette to another, but you can also do selective color reproduction. Open the file to be copied and will be placed in the copy, select Tile from the Windows list, make a few squares in the first file and fill in the color you want to copy. Use the arrow tools to drag these color blocks into another file, and the colors in these blocks will automatically be included in the palette of the file.

Font shading

If only the copied version of the font is tilted and grayed out, it does not fully reflect the feeling of the shadow cast by the font. Such a shadow does not look too long or the proportion is not natural. It is appropriate to reduce the height of the shadow font. Set the size of the shadow font to half of the foreground font and set the width to 50%. If the two groups of fonts have the same Tracking, they should be exactly aligned.

Color is not limited to six colors

The colors in PageMaker are actually limited by Pantone's Hexachrome; you can mix 2 to 8 inks to blend a particular color. These inks can be any Hexachrome color, as well as a combination of CMYK. When set, these colors can be used immediately for any publication or image as if they were normal colors. Their ink color appears in the set color dialog box and print box, and the change can be controlled in these two places. Anti-white word compensation method

In a darker color, the inverting font usually appears to be smaller than it is under normal conditions (black on white). In general, the size of the reverse font should be set slightly larger. Seek visual balance.

Change the style of other software to your own

To change the layout of another software to PageMaker's layout, hold down the Command (Control) key, click its name, and click OK in the dialog box. At this point, the star symbol next to this row disappears. PageMaker automatically turns this Style into its own row. But remember, don't let Style with Star sign in Microsoft Word stay in your layout because there is a danger of destroying files. Also, do not use the period as the start of the Style name, as it will also damage the file.

Conversion of Style in PageMaker

If you want to make some minor changes to the layout of a layout in PageMaker, you can use the control panel instead of resetting the layout. Simply place the cursor on the paragraph you want to change, call the paragraph layout on the dashboard, type the desired row name on the row bar, hold down the Command-shift (Control-Shift) and click in the row column Just type in the name of the row, at this time there will be a dialog box asking if you want to replace the original row with this specification, click OK.

Method of renewal targeted in PageMaker

Positioning settings can be used to transfer one paragraph to another. Just select the text tool in Pagemaker and select the paragraphs that have been set, drag down and select other paragraphs for the same settings, press Commend-l to view Tab and Indents, press OK .

Processing text inside the object

In PageMaker, the way the text is arranged around the interior of the object is to turn the text around from the outside. In fact, as long as the text around the dotted line in the corner of the anchor point to the diagonal direction, and the other end of the diagonal anchor back to the original position, you can rewind the scope of the map from the outside.
